I have recently discovered the beautifully humerous illustrated books of Lauren Child while at work browsing through the shelves. I instantly recognised the drawings from a cartoon I had watched a couple of weeks before "charlie and Lola" which I had complety forgotten about.
Child has become famous for her Clarice Bean books and Charlie and Lola characters. Capturing unique and humerous personalities, which truly inspired me as I can identify these with the children I work with.
I would compare them to a modern Quentin Blake style accompanied by satirical humour and emphasised typography which can be enjoyed by both adults and children. I would highly recommend reading and watching her new cartoon series (on ceebeebies) get back to your inner child.

i looked in to this cartoon too when we i did the calendar brief last year as i made a childrens calendar, the website is great and all the kids love the books and the tv programme too. the simple figure animations and the unique use of the actual bits of materials and photographs incorporated in to the cartoons create great texture and are really fun and different.
