wrapping paper design ideas I created today

cubey

The first composition is how it all began, from an image I created with umbrellas, butterflys and 2 point rotational symmetry (proffesor Hann would be proud), it has somewhat evolved since then, into a variety of "organic" designs. Colour schemes inspired by shabby chic and Louis style decoration and wallpaper motifs. All created in photoshop through layering, cropping and sequencing. Quite a relaxing exercise, very theraputic!

I have entered a couple in the tiger print wrapping paper competition as I feel they are quite origional and in line with furniture and textile trends at the moment.

I have decided to create a sister blog just for my patterns, because I seem to have been much too over inspired and created hundreds. Its mainly for my own amusement, but if you want

take a look

  1. Wow, really like the fourth one down! Did you use photos for this and if so, how did you manage to get them to be coloured outlines?

Maybe you should read over the design theory handouts and try all 17 border patterns and 46 all over patterns...

    :)

  2. Hey thanks! there was a photo of an umbrella I used at the start and some butterflys (brush on P.S)but that was it, just used layering, over lapping and cropping sections to make them. The ones on the link page are better because I did them after these ones.

I don't reckon I could manage 17 border patterns it would take me a life time!
